Lemon signed with the Montreal Alouettes on July 24th, 2023.

2022: The ageless veteran enjoyed a career year in 2022, matching his career-best sack total of 14 while recording career-highs in defensive tackles (29), and forced fumbles (5) in 17 regular season games. Lemon’s accolades earned him CFL and Western All-Star selections plus the Western division nomination for CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player. Suited up in the Western Semi-Final loss at British Columbia. Lemon enters the 2023 campaign as the CFL’s active leader with 92 career sacks.

2021: Shawn signed with the Edmonton Elks in February but was released at the end of training camp before returning to the Calgary Stampeders. In 11 regular season contests, Lemon racked up 26 defensive tackles, eight sacks and a pair of forced fumbles while appearing in the Western Semi-Final loss at Saskatchewan.

2019: Returned to the Toronto Argonauts as a free agent in February and registered 15 defensive tackles and a sack in four games before being dealt back to the Lions on August 12 for defensive lineman Davon Coleman plus a conditional draft pick. Suited up in ten regular season games in his second stint and orange, recording a team-high eight sacks to go along with 19 defensive tackles and three forced fumbles.

2018: Appeared in five games with the Boatmen before being traded to the Lions for future considerations on July 24. Lemon would help bolster the Leos’ pass rush by racking up 16 defensive tackles and ten sacks (second on the squad to Odell Willis) across 13 regular season games. Suited up in the Eastern Semi-Final loss in Hamilton on November 11.

2017: Recorded 18 defensive tackles, eight sacks and a forced fumble in 12 regular season games as the Argos captured first place in the Eastern Division. Lemon was then a major force in the division final win over Saskatchewan with three sacks and five defensive tackles. He won a second Grey Cup ring the following week as the Boatmen pulled off a major upset against Calgary.

2016: Shawn signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders as a free agent in January and suited up in only one game before a trade to the Toronto Argonauts. Suiting up in 16 regular season contests, Lemon established a new career-high in sacks with 14 while racking up 22 defensive tackles and eight forced fumbles. He was voted as an Eastern Division All-Star.

2015: Shawn’s impressive stint in Calgary earned him a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After being released by the Steelers in early August, he would land with the San Francisco 49ers for the remainder of training camp. After being released on August 31, Lemon returned north to the Ottawa REDBLACKS and recorded 13 defensive tackles, six sacks and three forced fumbles in nine regular season games before helping the second-year franchise to an appearance in the 103rd Grey Cup where he recorded four tackles in the loss to Edmonton.

2014: For the first time in his career, Lemon would suit up in all 18 regular season games while finishing tied for second in the league with 13 sacks to go along with 26 defensive tackles, eight forced fumbles and an interception. Recorded two defensive tackles in Calgary’s Western Final win over Edmonton and then a pair of defensive tackles and a sack to help them take down Hamilton in the 102nd Grey Cup at BC Place.

2013: After his release from Edmonton at the end of May, Lemon moved down the road to Calgary in early June and would record 17 defensive tackles and three sacks in six regular season contests. He then returned from injury for the Western Final loss to Saskatchewan where he registered six defensive tackles.

2012: Following his release from the Roughriders, Lemon began 2012 with the Arena Football League’s San Jose SabreCats. He was then traded to the Orlando Predators in April before a stint with the Indoor Football League’s Sioux City Storm. He then returned north to Edmonton and registered 15 defensive tackles and six sacks in 12 games before making his CFL playoff debut in the green and gold’s Eastern Semi-Final loss at Toronto.

2011: Shawn signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as a free agent and was released from their practice squad on July 21. He then landed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and suited up in one regular season game.

College:

2007-10: Shawn attended the University of Akron and appeared in 41 games over four seasons with the Zips. He was a force on the defensive line with 102 total tackles, 22.5 tackles for a loss and 36 sacks.

Personal:

Lemon played at Westlake High School in Maryland and as a senior in 2005, he set a conference record with 21 sacks in a single season. He also competed in basketball and track and field and was an honour-roll student.
